In winter, Lake Khövsgöl becomes covered with a thick layer of ice more than two meters deep. Trucks can sometimes traverse the lake rather than the challenging coastal trails. Nomads also travel across the lake using a horse-drawn sleigh.

In winter, Lake Khövsgöl becomes covered with a thick layer of ice more than two meters deep. Trucks can sometimes traverse the lake rather than the challenging coastal trails. Nomads also travel across the lake with the help of a sleigh pulled by a horse. For them, the sleigh serves to transport provisions from surrounding villages and firewood for heating.

These sleighs are today also a wonderful way to discover the Khövsgöl region, and embark on a ride across the frozen lake. You'll be seated together on the sleigh at the back while the driver at the front guides the horse.

This activity requires no physical difficulty, and you need only be warmly dressed to set off on a magical journey across a glassy expanse of ice.
