First Aid Kit

Itches, indigestion, blisters, minor cuts—these small inconveniences can quickly overshadow your journey. Here's what my personal first aid kit looks like:

  • Insect repellent
  • Soothing cream for insect bites or plant irritation
  • Sunscreen
  • After-sun cream or healing balm
  • Disinfectant and transparent antiseptic solution
  • Sterile gauze pads and bandages, including blister plasters
  • Elastic, breathable tape
  • Paracetamol
  • Cream for bruises and muscle soreness
  • Anti-diarrheal and laxative medications
  • Throat lozenges and eye drops for dry eyes
  • Broad-spectrum antibiotics
  • Tweezers
  • Water purification tablets

Vaccinations

No vaccinations are mandatory for Mongolia. However, you'll be traveling to a remote region of the world. A few precautions are therefore worth considering. Here is the list of vaccinations recommended by the Pasteur Institute:

  • Keep up to date with diphtheria, polio, and tetanus
  • Hepatitis A (if you travel frequently)
  • Typhoid (if you're particularly cautious about health risks)
  • Hepatitis B (for extended or repeated stays)
  • Rabies (for solo travelers and adventure-oriented itineraries)
  • Tick-borne encephalitis (for horseback riding in Khuvsgul during May, June, and July)
