Dalanzadgad is the capital of the province of Ömnögobi, in the extreme South of the country. It’s located 540 kilometres (335 miles) of Ulan Bator, 1470 metres (4822,84 feet) above the sea level. The city had 19.000 inhabitants in 2010. Nowadays, due to the mining development in the south of the province, the city is booming.
The city has an airport with several daily flights from and to Ulan Bator (the journey lasts about 1.15 hour). In 2014, a road between Dalanzadgad and Ulan Bator has been finished and now it’s possible to connect the two cities in about 8 hours.
Dalanzadgad has a cold desert climate, with cold dry winters and warm summers.
