Dundgovi Province is composed of steppe and semi-desert landscape.
The region's altitude ranges between 990 and 1,926 meters above sea level. The highest point is the summit of Delgerkhangai in the soum of the same name.
Vast semi-desert areas such as Oldokh, Tugrug, Nomgon, and Ergenegene stretch across the province, alongside numerous natural springs including Togoo, Ungut, and Khadan Us.
The province boasts magnificent landscapes and attractions including Ikh and Baga Gazriin Chuluu, the Khukh oasis, the pyramidal stupa of Tsagaan, and the sand dunes of Uush.
Elms, willows, tamarisks, and almond trees flourish throughout the province. The region is also rich in medicinal plants including artemesia, allium mongolicum, psammochloa, wormwood, couch grass, wild rose, licorice, cynomorium, agriophyllium, and many others.
Wildlife such as wild sheep, ibex, antelope and black-tailed antelope, marmot, fox, lynx, wildcat, badger, and hare occasionally cross paths with visitors. The province is also home to numerous bird species: eagles, swans, kites, great bustards, and more.
Dundgovi is rich in mineral resources, including coal, copper and iron ore, fluorite, nephrite, jade, graphite, and marble. The primary economic resource derives from livestock herding.
