The remarkable granite formations of Baga Gazariin Chuluu, meaning "stone of the small place", lie in the northwest of Dundgovi province. They stand at the heart of the steppe, 250 km south of Ulan Bator, in the sum of Delgertsogt.

At 1,751 meters in elevation, they form a granite canyon rising from the steppe. Erosion has polished the cliff walls smooth. While some of the canyon's side entrances prove challenging to access, most allow entry and rewarding walks through this labyrinth of rock. You may be fortunate enough to discover inscriptions carved into the stone by two venerated monks who lived here during the 19th century.

Visitors can explore the ruins of an ancient temple dating from the 17th century. A narrow, deep opening can be seen here. Rainwater that collects within is believed to possess the power to heal eye ailments. A small ladle rests on the rock, placed there so people can rinse their eyes with this sacred water.
