The city of Dalanzadgad is the provincial capital of Ömnögovi, in the far South of Mongolia. It sits 540 kilometers from Ulan Bator, at an altitude of 1,470 meters. With a population of nearly 19,000 inhabitants in 2010, the city is experiencing rapid growth due to the mining boom sweeping through the southern province.

The city has an airport with flights connecting it to the capital several times daily (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes of flight time). Since 2014, a road between Dalanzadgad and Ulan Bator has been completed, making it now possible to travel between the two cities in approximately 8 hours.
