For this final Café Milk of the season, Sandrine Rulhmann, an anthropologist specializing in Mongolia, invites you on Sunday, June 3rd to a conversation and tasting exploring food and, more specifically, milk in Mongolian culture.

In addition to the BEFORE events scheduled on Friday evenings around major exhibition highlights, the Musée du Quai Branly is welcoming visitors this year to a new experience: Les Dimanches Décalés (Offset Sundays). Whether passionate about contemporary creation, adventurous music lovers, or discerning food enthusiasts, visitors can enhance their museum experience by freely participating in one of these offset afternoons.

The Musée du Quai Branly and Café Milk invite you to discover Mongolia through food and milk on Sunday, June 3rd from 4 PM to 6 PM.

Seven thousand years before our era, goats, sheep, and cattle were raised throughout the Near East and western Middle East. By 4000 BCE, with the emergence of llamas and alpacas, milk became available in the mountains of northwestern South America… The expansion of cattle, goat, and sheep herding, and the domestication of zebu, donkeys, horses, camels, dromedaries, and water buffalo extended milk consumption across most of Europe, Central Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, parts of Africa, India, and the Far East through to China. By 2500 BCE, more than half the world was capable of consuming milk.
