Canoeing and kayaking are undoubtedly an original way to discover Mongolia, its stunning landscapes and nomadic life. Indeed, during the summer season, nomads set up their summer camps on the banks of rivers. From your boat, you can observe at leisure the daily life of nomads unfolding before your eyes. As you paddle, you'll encounter herds of animals sharing the waterway with you, raptors soaring overhead, and all manner of aquatic life. Intrigued nomads who spot you passing by will often pause to chat, and it's not uncommon to be invited into a ger.

In Mongolia, the season for canoeing is short, extending for 3 months from June through the end of August.

Beginners' paddling trips are available for 1 to 3 days on the Tuul River, in the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, just 2 hours' drive from the capital.

For those wishing to center their journey around canoeing and kayaking, we offer tours of 10 to 14 days on the Orkhon and Chuluut rivers in Arkhangai, the Eg River in Khövgöl province, and the Yeroo River in Khentii. These programs feature no particular technical challenges and minimal rapids, though prior canoeing experience, good physical fitness, and comfort with getting wet are recommended.

During your canoeing expeditions, we provide a waterproof bag for your daily belongings and a life jacket. Your larger bags will remain in the support vehicle, which will meet you at each stop. An English-speaking Mongolian guide trained in whitewater activities and with expert knowledge of the region will lead the expedition.
