Accommodation in Mongolia
Ulan Bator being the central point of Mongolia, it seems necessary to spend there at least one or two nights. All the categories of rooms and hôtels are available, from the dormitory in a guest house (4-5 euros ; 2,98-3,72 GBP ; 4,57-5,71 USD) to the high standing hotel (200-300 euros ; 148,81-223,20 GBP ; 228,57-342,84 USD).
During your tour, you will sleep in Ulan Bator in a 2 or 3 stars hotel located in the city centre. The cost of these hôtels varies between 45 and 60 euros per night, breakfast included for a a 2 stars hotel to 150 euro for a 3 stars hotel such as the Continental Hotel*. Of course, it's possible to book a higher category hotel, such as the Blue Sky Hotel** or Ramada Hotel****.
Once left the capital, you'll find very few hôtels, and you'll sleep in a yurt, either in ger camps with a shared yurt and sanitary at your service, or at a family's in one or several yurts dedicated to the group.
We also like to work with nomad herders for your accommodation, because this allows better exchanges with them and a better understanding of nomadic culture.
When we'll tent camping, you'll have a 3 places tent for 2 persons, with a ground mattress and a sleeping bag. For the meals, we provide a mess tent, and for the water closets and showers, a sanitary tent (we also can have dry toilets and portable shower cubicle). See the post about equipment on tour for more precision.
