Animism
Animism is the belief that any thing has a spirit. Mongolians still worship the spirits of sky, mountains, water, and soil, and make offerings of dairy products, vodka, cakes, or tea, hoping that the spirit of mountain will help them.
The main ceremony of sacrifice was held around the ovoo, real place of worship for Mongolian people, while the more common sacrifice rituals with milk or airag were made with the tsatsal, a wooden spoon used for offerings.
These two traditions are still respected nowadays: many Mongolians still believe in the spirits of nature, especially the spirit of mountain.
