We take genuine pride in the caliber of our guides, which stands well above the general standard found throughout Mongolia. The training we provide them, the strong relationships we nurture, and the competitive salaries we offer enable us to maintain a loyal and reliable team of highly effective and personable guides.

That said, it's important to note that guiding is not an official profession in Mongolia, and there is no formal guide school. Each reputable agency handles guide training through their own tailored programs of varying depth. Our guides are not lecturers, and it's not uncommon for them to answer "I don't know" to a question (in which case they're tasked with finding the answer and bringing it back to you before your journey concludes).

Our selection criteria are therefore:

• Language proficiency: our English-speaking and other language guides typically have excellent command of their respective languages;
• Warmth and charm, paired with the ability to create wonderful moments by quickly breaking the ice with locals;
• Knowledge base, with our priority focused on understanding nomadic lifestyles, culture, and heritage rather than specialized subjects such as botany.

During peak tourist season, we occasionally deploy less experienced guides to lead smaller groups (though always with strong language skills and genuine warmth). They are then supported by a highly seasoned driver with deep knowledge of the terrain and Mongolian culture. Don't be surprised, therefore, if your guide sometimes turns to your driver for answers to your questions—that's precisely what we ask them to do.
