Bugiin Tsav
Bugiin Tsav
Bugiin Tsav, a paleontological site in the Mongol Gobi: walk across a fossilized Cretaceous seabed, between red cliffs and tarbosaurus remains.
Located 50 kilometers north of Khermen Tsav in Bulgan sum, at the far northwest of Ömnögobi province, the Bugiin Tsav region is part of the Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Burgiin Tsav has been the site of numerous fossilized dinosaur discoveries, but also other marine species: a turtle, a fish and even a mollusc. You'll be amazed to walk quite literally across the floor of an ancient fossilized sea. The surrounding cliffs are composed of different layers of red, green and yellow sedimentary rock.
The skeleton of a tarbosaurus found in the region can now be observed at the Natural History Museum.
