Green City Festival in Ulaanbaatar

·

May 15, 2011 — The Green City Festival in Ulaanbaatar began last weekend and is taking place simultaneously across all cities throughout the country. It's an opportunity for urban families to plant a tree together.

The residents of Ulaanbaatar are celebrating the "Green City" festival every weekend throughout the month.

Organized by the Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism, the festival kicked off Friday afternoon with a diverse program of artistic performances. Dances, singing, parades through the city's main streets, as well as running events, lectures, and exhibitions are all part of this month-long celebration.

Various themes will be explored over the course of these three weeks:

  • Week 1: Green spaces and forests
  • Week 2: Water
  • Week 3: Nature protection

The ministry will also showcase its program for nature development and protection during the final "Green City" weekend.
