If you're a regular reader of the Voyage Mongolie blog, you likely remember the stunning infographic we created a few months ago to present general data about Mongolia... For those who haven't seen it, no worries, but do check out this link: Infographic on Mongolia !

Because a static infographic didn't seem quite enough to us, and given that at Horseback Mongolia we love a technical challenge, we're thrilled to present you today with an original new creation: an animated infographic !

As you can see, this animation video presents general facts about Mongolia, designed to best introduce the country to those who've never (or rarely) heard about it:

  • Mongolia is a vast country located in East-Central Asia, bordered by 2 nations: Russia and China.
  • Mongolia is as large as 3 times France, and 6 times the United Kingdom!
  • It's one of the highest countries in the world, with an average altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level.
  • Its average temperature ranges between 10 and 30°C in summer, and can plummet to -40°C in winter!
  • It's nicknamed "The Land of Blue Sky" thanks to its 250 days of sunshine per year.
  • It's also the land of the planet's last nomads, who represent approximately 30% of the population.
  • Mongolia is home to 3 million inhabitants, making it the least densely populated country in the world!
  • 1.4 million of them actually live in the capital: Ulaanbaatar, nearly half the entire population!
  • The official currency is the tugrik, and the main religion is Tibetan Buddhism.
  • Mongolia is a democratic country with a Parliamentary Republic since 1990.
  • Mongolia's greatest event is the Naadam festival, held every year from July 11th to 13th.
  • Three main Mongolian sports are practiced there: archery, horse racing, and wrestling.
  • Mongolia is also the land of Genghis Khan, known for founding the greatest Empire in History.
  • Mongolia boasts great landscape diversity, ranging from verdant steppes, arid deserts, snow-capped mountains to crystal-clear lakes…
