The tradition of skiing in the Mongolian culture
Experts and historians think that the origins of skiing come back from prehistory and nomads of the Altai. Skiing is then supposed to have been imported to America, when some people from Central Asia crossed the Bering strait during the glacial period, and to Asia Minor and Northern Europe (Scandinavia).
Nowadays, some Mongolian ethnic minorities like Uriankhai still use this old way of transportation. This is a video from the movie of our friend Hamid Sardar "the white reindeer", showing how traditional skis are made today and how Uriankhai use them.
